Robert (Joe) Shaw, 84 of Monmouth IL, died Friday, December 27, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. 

Robert, better known as Joe, was born at home on his parents’ farm in Colusa, Illinois to Forrest and Amy (Lowman) Shaw, November 22, 1935. Joe had two older brothers Jack and Bill. Joe attended Colusa and Dallas City Grade Schools and Dallas City High School. Upon graduation Joe graduated from barber school in Peoria, IL. 

Joe married the love of his life, Sally Jo Gilbreth Shaw on September 2, 1955 and together they raised three children, Rory, Pamela and Jeff.  

Joe began his career as a barber in Monmouth, IL at Dugan’s Barber Shop, Market Alley. Joe later opened his own barber shop business in his home on West Broadway in Monmouth. It was not uncommon to have customers in line waiting to open the shop, which provided a wonderful dwelling for laughter, comradery and a place to solve the world’s problems. Joe retired in 2006. He frequently would say, “I do not miss work, but I sure miss my customers!” 

Those left to cherish his memory are his lovely wife Sally of 64 years, son Rory Shaw Monmouth, daughter Pam Shaw (Todd) Franzen, Taylor Ridge. Grandchildren, Jason Shaw & Allison Buccalo (girlfriend), Heath Shaw, Stephanie Shaw (Jimmy) McVey, Amanda (Nate) Hoover, Andrea (Corey) Johnston, Joshua Franzen, Hailey (Brad) Brey, Hannah (Joe) Lucero,  Jake (Samantha) Shaw and thirteen great grandchildren; Zach, Luke, and Molly McVey, Kyle and Katie Shaw, Hayden, Holden and Hosea Hoover, Emma, Josiah and Kaisyn (Kane) Johnston, Savannah Jo Shaw and Haddie Jolene Lucero. 

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers and loving son, Jeff. 

The family is planning a private celebration.  No visitation or services are planned. Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to Lake Warren Memorial Fund.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
