Mrs. Rosemarie J. Johnson, 89, Galesburg, Illinois died 2:15 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2019 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born June 29, 1930 in Woodhull, Illinois, the daughter of Vance Sturgeon and Frances (Doud) Sturgeon. She married Harold J. Johnson on August 16, 1950 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2010.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy (and Steve) Hoffman of Pekin, Illinois and Sylvia (and Michael) Webster of Galesburg; five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Richard Sturgeon and her twin sister, Rosalie Ruth Sturgeon.
Rosie graduated from Galesburg High School in 1948. She worked in the cafeteria for Galesburg School District #205 for 26 years before retiring in 1985.
Rosie was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and was active in church activities. She taught Sunday School for 42 years and was a member of the Senior Group. She also loved to do counted cross stitch and had completed many beautiful pieces for all of her family. She also loved angels and had large collection of angel figurines. The two most important aspects of Rosie’s life were the Lord and her family.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel. Rev. Scott Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
