Share

The Special Olympics will be hosting their first Polar Plunge Sunday, Februrary 23 at Lake Storey in Galesburg.

The Polar Plunge asks people to raise 100 dollars from pledges in exchange for jumping in ice cold waters in the middle of winter-early spring.

Jennifer Davis of the Special Olympics has more:

“The three Polar Plunges make up about half our revenue budget for the year. We encourage people to come out and plunge or donate and just enjoy the event.”

The other two polar plunges Davis mentioned will be held at Western Illinois on leap day in February. The last will be held in mid-March at Jumer’s Casino in Rock Island.
