Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Dec. 15th, 2019:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior wrestler, Martin Arteaga. Martin put on a great performance in his first tournament of the season at the PORTA Invitational. He went (3-1), garnering a 2nd place medal for his efforts. Included in those three wins were two victories via pin-fall.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior wrestler, Coleman Orth. Coleman earned the first win in United Red Storm wrestling history. He garnered a pin over a Kewanee Boilermaker opponent on his first night of varsity wrestling in a meet at Monmouth-Roseville High School.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior girls basketball player, Mady Reed. Mady was a big factor in her team getting two wins last week. She poured in 19 points in a victory over West Prairie. Earlier in the week, Mady scored 11 points in a win over Ridgewood in a Lincoln Trail Conference match up.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior boys basketball player, TJ Myers. TJ scored 11 points in a win over St. Joseph’s College High School of Australia last week. He also scored 21 points in a blowout win over Illini West. In that one, TJ hit 4, 3-pointers.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls bowler, Chloe Day. Chloe was tops on the team for Galesburg in two seperate meets last week. She bowled a 3-game score of 650 in a dual win over Moline and followed that up with a 6-game score of 1117 in the United Township Invitational Tournament. That score was good enough for 5th place overall in the tourney.
