William L. “Bill” Thompson, age 68, of Danville, Illinois passed away at
1:25 pm on Saturday,December 14, 2019 at the Prairie City Rehab and
Health Care Center in Prairie City, Illinois.William was born on April
12, 1951 in Danville, Illinois and is the son of William Elias and Mary
Kate Ferrell Thompson. Bill was raised in Danville, where he attended
local schools and graduated from the Danville High School in the class
of 1969. Bill began work with his father in Danville. He later entered
the Air Force and served as a Sergeant E-4 in the United States Air
Force. Bill was trained as a cable splicer specialist and served in
Okinawa during the early 70s. After service, he then began work as a
cable splicer for Pacific Bell as an independent contractor. Bill, at
his work, was severely injured in a traffic accident in California and
has been disabled and in need of rehabilitative care ever since. He
returned to Danville, Illinois in 1984 and lived with his sister,
Cynthia. Since then he has lived in Chicago, Danville, Lewistown, and
finally in Prairie City, Illinois.

Bill is survived by his special close friend, Alis Creswell Chy of
Monmouth, IL, two sisters, Cynthia Moore and Dorothy Thompson,and two
brothers, Fred Thompson and Ewell Thompson. Bill is preceded in his
death by his Grandfather, Henry Clay Thompson, his parents, and several 
Aunts andUncles.

A memorial service and Military Honors are planned on Monday December
23, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois.
Cremation has been accorded and no viewing or visitation is being
planned by his family. Interment of his ashes will be at a later date in
Danville at the Military cemetery. To leave a remembrance or for more
