OSF Holy Family Healthcare will be presenting the documentary “A Touch of Sugar” on January 27 at five pm in their Wellness Classroom.
OSF will be showing a 32 minute clip from the documentary, which is narrated by Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis and is produced by America’s Diabetes Challenge.
OSF Diabetes Education Coordinator Tina Canada describes the premise of the documentary:

“It’s really a documentary about the diabetes epidemic. One in ten people have diabetes and about 95 to 98% of those have Type Two diabetes. So, there a lot of people who have diabetes but there’s are a lot of people with pre-diabetes and many of those don’t even know they have pre-diabetes – maybe they’ve never been screened for that or are aware of what the symptoms are. So this documentary is addressing that epidemic.”

The presentation is free of charge and does not require registration.
