Chey Marie Robson, 86, of Wataga, Illinois died 3:16 a.m. Sunday, January 12, 2020 at her home.

She was born on October 10, 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Alfred F. and Fern Gwendolyn (“Gwen”) (Mundhenk) Sigwalt. She married John H. Robson on June 18, 1955. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2016.

Surviving are three sons, Michael Robson of Wataga, David Robson of Springfield, Illinois and Daniel (and Tracy) Robson of Mandeville, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Jessica and Stephanie; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Robson of Ames, Iowa. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Sigwalt.

She was a 1951 graduate of Grand Island High School, Grand Island, Nebraska and a 1955 graduate of Iowa State College where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.  She was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife.  She was an avid painter, gardener, Reading Buddy, a member of Tuscarora, and a volunteer at the Galesburg Rescue Mission. In the late 60’s, she taught herself to swim, and eventually became the Swim Coach at the Knox County YMCA. She also was a Cub Scout den mother. In recent years, she enjoyed Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles.

Cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Chey’s Life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. The scattering of John’s and Chey’s ashes will occur at a later date.

The family would like to thank the Western Region OSF Hospice, especially nurse Candi, who make Chey’s last month as comfortable as possible.  Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Community Foundation for benefit of the John and Chey Robson Family Fund.
