Oglesby, IL-Carter Fayhee (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to force overtime and the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team erupted in the second extra session for a 91-75 double-overtime win at Illinois Valley on Tuesday night.

Fayhee beat the second-half buzzer to tie the game at 64, and he went on to score 13 of his 19 points on the night in the two overtime periods.

The teams were tied 74-74 after the first OT before the Chargers (16-6 overall, 2-2 Arrowhead Conference) dominated the Eagles (8-14, 2-2) 17-1 in the second overtime.

Freshman Jean Luc Wilson (East Moline, Ill./United Township) had a season-high scoring night for the second time in four games, dropping 27 points to lead the Chargers. His previous best was 24 points in Sandburg’s conference opener against Highland. Wilson has reached double figures in six of the Chargers’ last seven contests.

Sophomore guard Scott Gowan (Rockford, Ill./Rockford East) added 23 points for Sandburg, with 17 of those coming in the first half as the Chargers took a 40-29 lead into the locker room.

A career night from sophomore guard Hailey Lovetinsky (Overland Park, Kan./Spring Hill) helped power the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team to a 64-53 Arrowhead Conference victory at Illinois Valley on Tuesday night.

Lovetinsky poured in a career-high 23 points as the Chargers (9-12, 2-1) grabbed an 18-9 lead after the first quarter and went on to earn their second straight Arrowhead contest. Lovetinsky surpassed her previous best of 20 points on Nov. 14, 2018, as a freshman against Milwaukee Area Tech.

Sandburg, which led 29-24 at halftime before extending its advantage to 44-34 after the third, also got 11 points from sophomore forward Kennedy Jackson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone).

The Eagles (7-9, 1-2) were led by 17 points from Aubrie Roda.
