Donald L. “Robbie” Robinson, age 97 of Woodhull, Illinois, formerly of
Monmouth, passed away on January 2, 2020 in Tucson, Arizona. He was born
on April 15, 1922 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Elmer Denzelvere
and Frances Leona (Anderson) Robinson. Robbie attended school in
Galesburg and was a 1939 graduate of Galesburg High School. He proudly
served his Country during World War II in the United States Army. Robbie
served in Hawaii and Saipan in the Marianas Islands. He later
participated in the Honor Flight to Washington, DC. In July, 1982,
Robbie married Elizabeth Briggs and she is surviving. He was previously
married to Betty Jean Clark and Lillian Mae Zauche.

Robbie owned and operated Robinson Electric Motor Service in Monmouth
from 1946-2016. He was a member of the Marion B. Fletcher Post #136
American Legion, the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau, and the I.O.O.F. Odd
Fellows Lodge in Monmouth. Don’s interests were many; he loved hunting
and fishing, attending the Old Threshers Reunion in Mount Pleasant,
Iowa, and in his younger years, ballroom dancing. He was proud that he
built his own home in Rural Monmouth. Robbie was also proud of his
Swedish heritage and was a member of VASA. He took many classes to learn
the Swedish language, and visited relatives in Tranemo, Sweden with his
son, Leif. Robbie was an avid reader, enjoying Sherlock Holmes in
particular. He was a member of the Christian Science Church of Galesburg.

Don is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Robinson of Woodhull, Illinois,
one son Leif Robinson and Elizabeth Loustaunau of Tucson, Arizona, one
daughter, Donna (Ed) Smock of rural Monmouth, Illinois, three grandsons;
Jerry (Tami) Smock, Clint (Jennifer) Smock, and Thomas Smock, ten
great-grandchildren; Dakota Wilson, Tyler Smock, Austin Giles, Mackenzie
Smock, Alyssa Smock, Cameron Smock, Aiden Smock, Taylor Smock, Madyson
Smock, and Joshua Smock, and two step-sons; Paul Briggs and David
Briggs. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other
relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lillian, son
Lance Robinson, and his brother, Kenneth Robinson.

A graveside service and military honors are planned for 2:00 PM on
Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Monmouth Cemetery in Monmouth, Illinois.
His family plans visitation from Noon-1:45 PM prior to the service at
Turnbull Funeral Home. A memorial is being established for St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital. For more information, or to leave a
