Monmouth broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter to maintain their place in the top four of the Midwest Conference with a 79-63 win over Lawrence Saturday afternoon at Glennie Gym.

Nursing a 50-45 lead heading into the final 10 minutes, the Scots pulled away with an 11-0 run, sparked by Carley Turnbull’s inside bucket at the 7:40 mark. She followed with another a minute later on her way to a 21-point afternoon, putting the Scots up 60-49. The Scots shot over 75 percent in the final quarter and maintained the double-digit lead over the final six minutes.

Becca Gallis pumped in a game-high 23 which included a 6-for-6 effort from the free throw line.

Monmouth continues their conference home stand Wednesday, hosting Knox in a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
