Galesburg Police Make Arrest with the help of Canine Zeus

Galesburg, IL (January 24, 2020) The Galesburg Police Department responded to 835 S Chambers on Friday, January 24, 2020 in reference to a check the well being on the resident Heidi Nickas. Information was given that she was there with Christopher Nickas age 39 who was currently wanted out of Knox County on numerous felony warrants.  
Upon arriving, Christopher was observed in the residence arguing with Heidi.  Upon seeing the police, Christopher went upstairs.  Upon knocking on the door, Heidi refused to allow officers into the home without a proper warrant.
A perimeter was established, and a search warrant was obtained for the residence at 835 S Chambers for the arrest of Christopher Nickas. Upon obtaining the warrant, officers entered the home and conducted a search with the assistance of canine officer Zeus.  Numerous warnings were given to Christopher to make himself known and to surrender.  Christopher Nickas as a history of being associated with stolen firearms on several occasions.  
Cannine Zeus was sent into a hole in the wall that was hidden behind a dresser.  Christopher was found inside the wall hiding under insulation.  Christopher was taken into custody at that time.  Christopher suffered minor injuries to his abdomen from being bitten by canine Zeus. Christopher was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released.
Christopher Nickas was transported to the Knox County Jail and processed for:
Warrant 19-CF-851 Felony aggravated fleeing and eluding, Criminal damage to state supported property and driving while suspended- bond $25,000.00
Warrant 16-CF-610 for four counts of violation of felony probation- bond $50,000.00
Warrant 19-TR-3878 for FTA unlawful disposal of a title- bond $1,500.00
Christopher was also charged with resisting a peace officer
