Mr. John R. Today, 50, of Wataga, Illinois passed away peacefully 4:00 p.m. Tuesday January 14, 2020 at home.

John was born April 9, 1969 in Joliet, Illinois to Robert John and Mary Ann (Staniszewski) Today, Sr. He married Diane Finch, they later divorced.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann (Jamie) Frey of Galesburg; his brother, Robert (Deb) Today, Jr. of Nebraska; his two sisters, Jeanette Helton and Cynthia (Ed) Coon both of Galesburg; five nieces, Melanie Ann Today, Angelia Helton, Rachel Wishon, Amanda (Charlie Kaden) Coon, and Destiny (Kenton) Clement; one nephew, Ryan Hahn; six great nieces, Riley, Ashlee, Nicole, Chloe, Adylin and Sophia and six great nephews, Jax, Noah, Greyson, Lakoda, Kyler and Kingston. He is preceded in death by his father and one great niece, Shiane.

John was currently working for Sam Mangieri Janitorial Services. He had also worked for Dick Blick and Bond Construction. When he wasn’t working, John enjoyed playing the guitar.

A Celebration Visitation of John’s Life will be 3:00-5:00 pm Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home to assist his family with funeral expenses.  Online condolences may be made at www.-h-p-w.com
