Mr. Lester C. Olin, 94, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 2:51 pm Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Heartland Health Care Center.

Lester was born April 27, 1925 in Oneida, Illinois the son of Charles and Florence Malmstrom Olin. He married F. Jane McMichael on September 3, 1949. She preceded him in death on April 29, 2007.

Lester is survived by two sons, Michael Olin of Moline, Illinois and David A. (Kim) Olin of Galesburg; one daughter, Cynthia (William) Hornbaker of Galesburg; his brother, Willis Olin of Galesburg; eight grandchildren, Jamie Hopping, Timmy Hopping, Teri Leu, Jonathan Keneipp, Matthew Keneipp, Stephanie Myers, Aaron Olin and Ashly Olin and twelve great grandchildren. Lester is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter, Christine Hopping; three brothers, and five sisters.

Lester served in the US Army from 1946-1947 during WWII in Alaska.

Lester worked as a custodian for District #205 for over 18 years, retiring in 1993. He graduated from Oneida High School in 1942. Lester was a member of First Lutheran Church and the OAKS Senior Citizens Center.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, January 27, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel with Pastor Vince Marolla officiating. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, the OAKS, Heartland Health Care Center or the Beacon of Hope Hospice. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
