Basketball

The PCSN was at Rockridge High School for a non-conference meeting between old Olympic and West Central Conference rivals, the Rockridge Rockets and Monmouth-Roseville Titans. Coming into the game, both teams were headed in different directions. The Rockets recently won the Macomb/Western Holiday Tournament and the Titans were on a 3-game losing streak. Monmouth-Roseville jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the first quarter before the Rockets would end the first quarter on an 8-0 run to lead 12-10 heading to the second quarter. That lead would extend to 27-22 at the half as Rocket leading scorer, Nate Henry, scored seven, 2nd period points. Monmouth-Roseville cut the deficit to 40-37 going into the 4th quarter and would actually take a 41-40 lead but continued struggles at the free throw line in the 4th quarter didn’t allow the Titans to close the game out. Rashaun King’s 3-point attempt at the buzzer was just off the mark and the Titans lost their second straight heart breaker, 59-57. Rockridge moves to (12-4) with the victory, while Monmouth-Roseville falls to (7-9). King led the Titans with 18 points, ten of those coming in the final period. Henry led Rockridge with 24 points.

The United Red Storm beat North Fulton 57-43 in another non-conference tilt. Declan Flynn scored 19 points and Jackson Bergren had 17 points to lead United. The Red Storm are (11-5).
