8th Grade Art Teacher at Monmouth-Roseville Junior High, Wendy Huston recently had her students participate in the Peace Poster contest sponsored by the Monmouth Evening Lions Club. Petronila’s drawing was completed in colored pencil and has advanced in the contest to the next level. The theme for this year’s contest was “Journey of Peace” and is an international contest with participants from all over the world. Students are not allowed to use words or numbers to express their ideas. Huston says this is one of her favorite projects to do with students because “It forces them to think symbolically and is a long term project in which many students discover talent/abilities they never knew they had”.
