Sharon M. Stewart, 71, of Galesburg, died at 6:28 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at home.
She was born April 15, 1948, in Rockford, the daughter of Walter and Louise M. (Carlson) Berg. She married James W. Stewart. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2009.
She is survived by two children, Joe (Janet) Stewart of Alpha and Lisa (Shawn) Retter of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Corey Stewart, Chad (Amber) Stewart, Tylor (Toyanna) Retter, and Paige (Marcus) Retter; three great grandchildren, Bryson and Addilynn Stewart and Kasen Retter; and a sister, Nancy Ilgen of Rockford. In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Brenda.
Sharon was raised and educated in Rockford, graduating from East High School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Sharon enjoyed working puzzles and volunteering with the Galesburg Rescue Mission and Hospice Compassus.
Cremation will be accorded. The family will host a celebration of life memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 at Faith Baptist Church. Rev. Curt Lipe will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus.
