Mr. Thomas “Tom” B. Pyle, 72, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 1:04 am Saturday, January 18, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria Illinois.

Tom was born October 16, 1947 in Kewanee, Illinois the son of R. Dean and Phyllis Marie Young Pyle. He married Linda Lee Stinson on October 4, 1968 in Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife Linda of 51 years; his children, Amy (Steve) Hughes of East Peoria, Illinois, Kelsey (Erin) Pyle of Knoxville, Illinois and Megan (Johnathan) Ransbottom of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; his three sisters, Tami (Bruce) Ruff of Avon, Illinois, Deena (Rick) Jackson of Knoxville and Myra (Ken) Boydstun of Galesburg; seven grandchildren, Blaire (Chris) Schertz, Jaycie (Shane) Acree, Carly (Nate) Elting, Kamden and Kasen Pyle, Adelyn and Nolan Ransbottom, seven great grandchildren; his step mother, Gloria Pyle of Galesburg and his dog, Sadie. He is preceded in death by his parents, his step father, Dale Holcomb and his grandson, Nathan Thomas Ransbottom in 2015.

Tom served in US Army from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War. He had earned the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and a Purple Heart.

Tom worked as a tool and die maker for John Deere Harvester for 30 years, retiring in 2014. He graduated from Avon High School in 1965 and attended Carl Sandburg College. Tom was an avid Chicago sports fan, he loved following the Black Hawks, Cubs and the Bears. He enjoyed doing yardwork, gardening and fishing. But Tom’s favorite love was the love for his family, especially his grandchildren. When they were around, he would be found on the ground playing with them.

Visitation is scheduled from 1:00-3:00 pm Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Services will follow at 3:00 pm at the chapel with Rev. Tim Anderson officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the VFW/American Legion/AmVets Honor Guard. Burial will be held at a later date in Knoxville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to establish an education fund for his grandchildren. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
