A new wind farm is going to be constructed in Galesburg.
The new farm will produce $30 million dollars in property taxes in the next 20 years. Knox County Area Partnership President Ken Springer says the tax revenue from the wind farm will make an impact for local establishments:
“It’s going to end up in the school district. It’s going to end up in county townships, road commissions, libraries, community college. A lot of entities are going to benefit from that.”
50 wind farms have been built in Illinois since 2003. The state ranks sixth in the nation in total number of wind turbines with 2,778.
