The Knox-Galesburg Symphony is preparing for the upcoming Masterworks concert: Fate of the Furious, a program honoring the 250th birthday of composer Ludwig Van Beethoven. Unfortunately, due to illness, Vlad Vizireanu will not be conducting this performance. Chicago-based conductor Kedrick Armstrong will be guest conducting the performance on Saturday, February 22 at 7:30 PM at The Orpheum Theatre in Galesburg, IL. Conductor Kedrick Armstrong uses joy and curiosity for all music to drive his pursuit to foster understanding and fellowship within diverse communities. Kedrick is currently serving as the assistant conductor for Chicago Opera Theater’s production of Freedom Ride. He also serves as Music Supervisor for a special outreach and education project at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Kedrick is an alum of the Chicago Sinfonietta’s Project Inclusion Freeman Conducting Fellow program, where he served as Assistant Conductor during the orchestra’s 2018-2019 season. He made his subscription debut conducting the orchestra on their annual MLK Tribute Concert. Kedrick was then invited back as a guest conductor for the 2020 MLK Tribute Concert,where he led the Chicago premiere of Joel Thompson’s Seven Last Words of the Unarmed.
