Macomb and WIU Team Up to Submit Application for Chance at HGTV Home Town Takeover Series

The City of Macomb and several entities at Western Illinois University (WIU) have collaborated in an effort to promote Macomb and WIU as the spot for a new HGTV series, “Hometown Takeover”. This popular television series is looking to “take over” a small town with a population of 40,000 or less, with great architecture and a Main street or downtown that might be further enhanced by a “makeover”.

Downtown Development Director Kristin Terry, WIU Executive Director of University Communications Darice Shinberger, WIU University Television Producer Phil Weiss, along with WIU Professor of Anthropology Heather Mcllvaine-Newsad worked very closely to submit the application to producers at HGTV, including the production of a promotional video. “We believe we have submitted outstanding information, photos, and an awesome video ’pitching’ Macomb”, said Downtown Development Director Kristin Terry. “I can’t thank this group enough for working under a quick deadline to submit such a well-rounded package promoting Macomb”, added Macomb Mayor Mike Inman.
