There were a number of local high school girls basketball players named to the Class 1A and 2A AP All-State team. Monmouth-Roseville senior Carly Gillen was placed on the 2A first team for the second straight season. She scored an average of 21.1 points and hauled in an average of just under eight rebounds a game this season and helped lead her team to a program record tying 24 wins. She scored over 1,500 points in her four-year varsity career. A standout high school volleyball player as well, Carly has signed a leter of intent to play volleyball at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Knoxville senior Breena Shreeves was placed on the Class 2A honorable mention list. Her 17 points and eight boards a game helped the Blue Bullets to a record of (28-5). Another local player, Abingdon-Avon sophomore Ashley Jones, was on the 1A honorable mention list. She averaged 19 points and almost eight rebounds a game for the Tornadoes. Other girls fro the Prairieland Conference included Lewistown seniors Anna Heffren and Sydney Shaeffer. Heffren was named to the class 1A first team and Shaeffer was placed on the second team. The 1A honorable mention list included Brimfield junior Haley Wallace, Princeville senior Brinlee Bauman and Wethersfield senior Lexi Nichols. The Class 2A honorable mention list included Quincy Notre Dame senior Sidney Hummert and Illini West junior Karli Artman.
