State Representative Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) announced he and other area State Legislators will be partnering with the Knox, Bureau and Henry County Farm Bureaus to host a Farmland Assessment Meeting in three locations on Monday, March 2nd. A farmer himself, Representative Swanson invites all area farmland owners and managers to discuss increasing property assessments:

“Just trying to get the word out. I have had several farmers call and actually farm managers and landlords call and asking why their property assessment went up on their farmland. There is some history there going back to 2012 of why that has taken place. I have teamed up with Farm Bureau and Brenda Matherly [Director of Local Government Affairs with the Illinois Farm Bureau] and we are going to conduct three forums throughout the 74th District,” Swanson states.

RSVP’s are requested to the County Farm Bureaus to ensure enough materials and seating will be provided.

All three meetings will be held Monday, March 2nd:

8:30am-10:30am  (Knox) Carl Sandburg College, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd., Galesburg

2:00pm-4:00pm  (Bureau) Bureau County Metro Center, 837 Park Avenue West, Princeton

5:30pm-7:30pm    (Henry) Black Hawk East Auditorium, 26230 Black Hawk Rd., Galva
