Mr. Robert Lee Davis, 86, of Galesburg, Illinois died Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Hospital, Peoria, Illinois.

He was born August 28, 1933 in Beverly, Illinois to Samuel and Bertha (Ecklebarger) Davis.  He married Eileen R. Fisher-Talbott, July 11, 1958 in Monmouth, Illinois.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Ray (and Meg) Davis of Peoria, Illinois and Ronnie Lee Davis of Galesburg; two daughters, Ruth Ann (and Gerald, Jr.) Hollan of Benton, Kentucky and Penny Lorraine (and Steve Gaines) Shaffer of Galesburg; six grandchildren, Tiffany Davis, Nacole Hawk, Jacob Hawk, Matthew Hawk, Rachel Godfrey, and Samuel Shaffer; eight great grandchildren and one on the way and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, and a grandchild, Bryan Davis.

Robert was a Carman for Burlington Railroad for 41 years and retired in 1993.  He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957 and was stationed in Roswell, New Mexico among other places.  He was of the protestant faith.  Robert was a “Jack of all trades” and enjoyed fixing things.

Funeral service will be 12:00 noon Monday, February 10, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, Illinois with military rites by the VFW/American Legion Honor Guard.  Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Monday at the chapel.  Memorials may be made to the family, American Stroke Foundation or OSF St. Francis Neurological Intensive Care Unit, Peoria.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
