Sandburg’s Women’s Basketball Leading Scorer, Rebounder Jackson Selected to All-Region Team

Carl Sandburg College sophomore Kennedy Jackson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) has been voted to the All-Region IV Division II District L Team after leading the Chargers in scoring and rebounding during the regular season.

Jackson, a 5-foot-10 forward, is tops among Sandburg players with 11.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. She also leads the Chargers in shooting percentage (53.1 percent), total field goals (129), free throws made (42) and blocks (22). Jackson is third on the team with 30 steals this season.

Jackson tied career highs for both scoring and rebounding in Sandburg’s win over Illinois Valley on Feb. 13, finishing with 22 points and 11 boards. She also had a career-best five blocked shots in that contest.

The Chargers will open the postseason by hosting Lake County at 5 p.m. Thursday in a Region IV Division II District D quarterfinal matchup.
