Mr. William R. “Bill” Anderson, 77, of Normal, Illinois, formerly of Knoxville, Illinois died 2:16 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

He was born February 23, 1942 in Galesburg to Howard Ray and Patricia Ann (Spore) Anderson. He married Peggy Jean Nelson August of 1960. He later married Mary Theresa Knapp June 13, 1981 in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are his four children, Cindy Harwood of Galesburg, Doug (and Jan) Anderson of Knoxville, Michelle (and Jim) Power of Georgetown, Texas and Aaron Anderson of Ottumwa, Iowa, ten grandchildren, Seann Anderson, MacKenzie (and Matt) Tonkovich, Shayne (and Kacey) Power, Nathan (and Haley) Anderson, Cory (and Brittany) Power, Kacey Power, Brianna Harwood, Chad Power, Evan Anderson and Dylan Anderson, 13 great grandchildren, Addison, Leilani, Max, Kaylon, Tannen, Parker, Abram, Avery, Mia, Jordi, Maddox, Keira, and Kason, two uncles, Dale Spore and Kenneth Anderson, his nieces, Tisha Harmon, Chelsea (and FJ) Miner, Jordan Marshal, and Tierra Myler, and his nephews, Caleb Lepisto, Tristan Lepisto, Johnathon Knapp, Ty Thurman, Chad Myler, and Cory (and Leslie) Myler. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill attended Oneida schools and graduated from ROVA High School in 1960. He was an Operating Engineer with Local #649 of 33 years and retired in March of 2004. He was the owner of Bill’s Photography for several years. Then, in his retirement, he worked at East Port Marina and drove for Enterprise Rentals. He was a coach for youth sports including baseball, basketball, and football and was a part of some championship teams. He was the chairman of the Galesburg Gymnastics Club. He also was the manager of the band, “Buster Brown’s”. The love of Bill’s life was his family, boating, basketball at any age or level, and the Green Bay Packers. “GO! Pack! GO!”

Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the family to set up a William Anderson Scholarship Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
