WQAD has reported Esther Joy King defeated William Fawell with 65 percent of the Republican vote for the 17th congressional district in Tuesdays Primary election. With nearly 30,000 votes, King picked up over 19,000 of the tallies. If the results are confirmed, King will move on to November where she will face Democratic Incumbent Cheri Bustos in the General Election. Bustos has been the U.S. Representative for Illinois’s 17th congressional district since 2013.

Scott Stoll will be the Democratic Candidate in November for 93rd District State Representative challenging Republican Incumbent Norine Hammond come this fall in the General Election. In yesterday’s Primary Election on the Democratic ticket, Stoll from Rushville defeated Emiliano Vera from Bushnell. Stoll picked up 65 percent of the vote defeating Vera 4,164 to 2,199. Some mail-in votes still need to be counted and the Illinois State Board of Elections will need to verify the results before they are official. In Warren County, where the 93rd district covers the southern part of the county including Roseville, Stoll defeated Vera with 68 percent of the vote.
Voter turnout was just over 24 percent in Warren County Tuesday in the General Primary Election. In the unofficial results, Thomas Siegel defeated Andrew Stuckart in the race for Warren County States Attorney. Siegel received 899 votes, or nearly 56 percent of the vote. Stuckart garnered 701 votes or 44 percent. Both candidates ran on the Republican ticket. There was no Democratic candidate. Warren County Clerk Tina Conard says there are some outstanding vote by mail ballots still not counted.
