Police in Galesburg say they had no choice but to shoot a dog last week. Officers shot and killed the pitbull as they were trying to arrest 26-year-old William Simmons. Officers say the dog charged them. Galesburg Police say they wouldn’t be surprised if Simmons sent the dog after them to help him try and escape though he didn’t. Police arrested him on Friday on felony assault and domestic violence charges.
