Mrs. Jessie A. Robison, 93, of Galesburg, Illinois, died 6:15 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2020 at Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born June 13, 1926 in Chariton, Iowa to Clifford and Bertha (Ambelang) Sellers. She married Richard D. Robison February 4, 1947 in Troy, Kansas. He preceded her in death July 25, 1972. She grew up on the family farm in Lucas County, Iowa, with her nine siblings and surrounded by nephews and cousins. She would tell you she had an idyllic childhood.
Surviving are two sons, Phillip (and Carley) Robison of Galesburg and Stephen (and Laurie) Robison of Galesburg, a last sister, Lovilla Linn of Emporia, Kansas, two grandchildren, Lucas Robison and Brena (and Lee) McCone, a step granddaughter, Heather Johnson, and two step great grandchildren, Lyra Sperlin and Ethan McCone. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and sisters.
Jessie graduated from Chariton High School in 1944. After her marriage, she and Richard moved their family to Galesburg in 1953 and settled into a life of railroading, camping, baseball and family gatherings. Jessie worked for Outboard Marine Corporation, Gale Products Division for over 17 years. Then she managed an apartment complex in Galesburg for 22 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg.
Cremation will be accorded and a graveside memorial service will be held at Chariton Cemetery, Chariton, Iowa at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or Galesburg Public Library Foundation.
