Lewis W. Moore, age 88, of Blandinsville, Illinois, passed away at 2:05 P.M. Friday, March 20, 2020 at his home.  He was born September 10, 1931 in Point Pleasant Township, Warren County, Illinois, the son of Harvey and Bertha Rosen Moore.  On October 11, 1967, he married Karen Hobby in Blandinsville.

Mr. Moore was a 1949 graduate of Media-Wever High School in Media, Illinois.  Following graduation, he served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1952, during the Korean Conflict.  After his military service, he farmed all of his life in the Raritan area.  He also assisted the Raritan Township Road Commissioner for many years.  Lewis, and his brothers, custom baled for many area farmers for several years.  He and his family also provided the locations for the annual Raritan Fireworks displays for over 35 years.  He was named as an Honorary Raritan Fireman by the fire department.  His passions were farming, family and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Karen, one son, Lewis Lee (Mindy) Moore of Blandinsville, two daughters, Lynne (Tom) Vegh of Ashburn, VA, Leyona Wiley of Macomb, IL, one daughter in law, Tammy McKee of Bushnell, IL,  eight grandchildren, Dustin and Derek Wiley, Adam McKee, Austin and Jackson Moore, Chris and Nick Schmidt, Victoria Vegh, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, James, Robert, John, and Franklin Moore, one son, Layne McKee, one son in law, Kevin Wiley, and one niece, Deborah Moore.

The family of Mr. Moore, wishes to express that their husband, father, and grandfather, Lewis Moore,  deserves a beautiful tribute. However, they understand, in this uncertain time with the COVID-19 pandemic, that attending a visitation and funeral service may not be in your best health interest.  Please be with them in your thoughts and prayers.  At this time, no public visitation is planned.  Private graveside services will be held Monday March 23, 2020 in the Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville.  The family will plan a celebration of Lewis’ life at a later date.  Memorials for the Raritan Fire Department and the Blandinsville Rescue Squad may be sent to Banks & Beals Funeral Home, P.O.
