Local High School and Junior High Sports Update for Mar. 10, 2020

Junior High

8th grade volleyball regionals continued last night with many local teams still in action. The United Red Storm are hosting a class 2A regional at United Junior High. The hosts played a semi-final match against London Mills Valley. United gets a 25-21, 25-23 win to move on to tomorrow night’s regional championship. The Red Storm will take on Lewistown at 6:00 at United Junior High School. The Lady Indians beat West Central 25-6, 29-31, 25-14.

The ICS 8th grade Trojans are trying to join their 7th counterparts in making a state final appearance. The ICS 7th grade won their sectional championship on Monday night to get to this weekend’s state finals tournament. The 8th grade Trojans took another step towards achieving that by beating class 1A regional host Galva 25-9, 25-21. Annawan defeated Kewanee Visitation in three sets in the second semifinal to set up a regional championship match tomorrow night at Galva High School at 6:00.

The 8th grade Monmouth Roseville Lady Titans ended their season Tuesday Night against Mercer County in the class 3A regional semifinals. The Titans fall 25-10, 25-20 and finish with an overall record of (20-4).

In the class 4A 8th grade volleyball regional tournament at Washington Street Gym in Macomb, the 8th grade Bomber girls knocked off Pekin Broadmoor 25-22, 25-16. The Lady Bombers will battle East Peoria tomorrow night at 6:00 in Macomb for the chance to move on to the Canton Ingersoll sectional next week.
