Monmouth College students are embarking on an alternative spring break this week, where they will spend their time serving the community.

Monmouth College students are traveling to Memphis, Tennessee where they will be working with Living Lands and Water, a Quad Cities-based cleanup company.

The group will be cleaning Lake McKellar, a local Tennessee lake that is a “big feeder” to the Mississippi River, according to Jake McLean, Assistant Director of Leadership Development and Service at Monmouth College.

McLean explains the alternative spring break program further.

“The students who choose to – or volun-told to – do service over the week of their spring break”

The group spent their alternative spring break in Grafton, Illinois last year.
