Orion B. Baxter Jr. (Bing) age 80 of Colchester, formerly of Cameron, Avon and Roseville, passed away, Sunday, March 15, 2020, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.  He was born July 28, 1939, in Monmouth, Illinois to Orion and Florence Bainter Baxter Sr.  Both of his parents have preceded him in death.Surviving to mourn his passing are 1 Brother: Chuck Baxter, Roseville, 1 Sister: Blanche (Larry) Mummert, Havana, 2 Nephews, 2 Nieces, 2 Great Nephews and 1 Great Niece, along with many cousins.

In his early years he attended the Means 1 room school house near Cameron after which he attended school in Cameron, Galesburg, Colchester and graduated from Avon high school in the class of 1957. Bing worked for many farmers in the Roseville to Avon area.  Bing drove a school bus for the Roseville School District for 6 years, along with working at several area auto repair shops, service stations, grain elevators, feed mills.  He was very proud to have his own farm and cattle, he sold his last cow this winter.  In 1974 Bing was the 3rd farmer in the Roseville area to buy a big round hay bailer, which lead him to do custom bailing for many local farmers.  Bing enjoyed going to farm sales to collect treasures, he also enjoyed Car Shows, Tractor Shows.  Most of all Bing loved to work on the farm and care for his cattle.

Private services will be held at Bethel Cemetery, with everyone dressing in casual attire, in memory of Bing’s life.  Friends may view and sign the register book at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester, Sunday, March 22, 2020, from 9:00 A.M. to 6:30 P.M.  Memorial is Donors Choice.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at jonesmortuaryfh.com .
