Ricketts Warns of COVID-19 Scams

In this unchartered territory surrounding COVID-19, scammers and criminals are surfacing to try and take advantage of consumers. Security Savings Bank Vice President Dorothy Ricketts advises everyone to be alert of the possible scams occurring:

“Those bad guys that attempt to solicit donations, steal personal information, or even distribute malware. Often times they are impersonating government agencies, for example, the World Health Organization is in the news a lot. People who are concerned about Social Security, act like they are from Social Security saving the benefits are going to be affected. The Red Cross, I have even heard some incidences, not locally, of people going door to door saying they have testing kits that they will sell to people. There is no such thing out there that is available to the general public at this time,” Ricketts reports.

Ricketts shares if you encounter any of these or other types of scams, contact your local banker to discuss the situation by calling 734-9333.
