Monmouth banged out 10 hits in a season-opening 7-6 win over Rhodes, but surrendered 13 in a 12-0 loss to Haverford in the nightcap of Sunday’s Florida twinbill.

The Scots trailed Rhodes 6-1 going into the sixth, but erupted for five runs to spark the come-from behind win. Allie Ramlo led off the inning with her first hit of the game and raced home on Jessica Pauley’s double. A batter later, Pauley came to roost on Brittney Enos’ base hit down the right field line. After four hits and three walks in the inning, the Scots headed to the bottom of the sixth knotted at 6-all. Jenna Pauley came from the bullpen and faced just one batter over the minimum in her two innings of work and got the win when Laura Dulee’s single drove in Katie Droste with the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh. Zelinda Taylor worked the seventh for the save.

Haverford scored in every inning but the second in a 12-0 blanking of the Scots in the nightcap. Haverford was aided by five Scots’ errors while holding Monmouth to five hits. The Fords put the game away with a five-run sixth.

Monmouth returns to action Monday with morning matchups against Lakeland and Concordia Chicago.
