Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Mar.1st, 2020:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Carly Gillen. Carly was named to her second consecutive AP Class 2A All-State First Team following a year in which she surpassed the 1,500 career point mark and averaged 21 points and 8 rebounds a game. She was also named to the 3rd team of the IBCA 2A All-State team as well.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior girls basketball player, Jennifer Shimmin. Following a solid year on the basketball court, Jennifer was named to the second team of the Lincoln Trail Conference’s All-Conference list. More importantly, she’s having success in the classroom, as she joined all of her teammates on the Lincoln Trail Conference’s All-Academic list as well.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior girls basketball player, Mady Reed. Not surprisingly, Mady was a Lincoln Trail Conference First Team All-Conference Honoree for the second straight basketball season. Also not surprising was that she was named to the Lincoln Trail’s All-Academic list for the 3rd consecutive season.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior boys track and field athlete, Blayne Bradshaw. Blayne got his indoor season off to a good start. On the track, he placed 18th in 400 meter dash against much larger schools at the Steve Coffman Indoor Invitational. Blayne was also a top-15 finisher in the shot put, placing 14th.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore track athlete, Kaylee Allen. Kaylee continued the momentum from her great golf season in the fall with an impressive start to her indoor track season. She got top-3 places in three different events at the Steve Coffman Invitational. Kaylee won the 400 meter dash, took 2nd in the 200 and placed 3rd in the 55 meter dash.
