Carl N. McLaughlin, age 74, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 8:50
PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Parkview of Wellman in Wellman, Iowa.
He was born in September 4, 1945, the son of Carl N. and Hazel B.
(Carnes) McLaughlin, Jr. in Monmouth, Illinois. Carl attended schools in
Monmouth and was a graduate of Monmouth High School. On March 18, 1967, he married Cynthia A. Robbins at the First Christian Church in Monmouth and she is surviving. Carl worked his entire career as an auto body man. He worked for Ray Greene, Jack O’Brien, and many years at Bruce Foote in Monmouth. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was also an avid fan of pigeon racing.
Carl is survived by his wife Cynthia, one daughter, Kimberly Lemley of
Monmouth, Illinois, one son, Mark McLaughlin of Milo, Iowa,
granddaughters; Ariel and Kaitelin, grandsons; Justin, Dereck, Jordan,
and Sam, and two great-granddaughters. Also surviving is one brother,
Ronnie McLaughlin of Monmouth. He is preceded in death by his parents,
one sister, Betty Fuller, and one brother, Jack McLaughlin.
Due to restrictions in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a private
family graveside service is planned. Friends may call at Turnbull
Funeral Home on the morning of Monday, April 13, 2020 to leave
condolences. A Celebration of Carl’s Life will be held with military
honors at a later date. Memorials may by left for the Alzheimer’s
