Gene “Coke” LaFollette

Share

After years of a very tough battle with Parkinson, my father’s wish to never leave his home at 773 Day Street and not go into a nursing home, was kindly granted by God.

Born August 14, 1940 – Gene “Coke” LaFollette was married at the age of 18, and is survived by three sons, Lester, Crosiar, and Tom; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A very young father right away, he worked for the Railroad his whole life, coaching his kids in baseball, working sometimes two jobs to support his family in Galesburg. He retired and has lived in the same home his whole life.

German author Jean Paul Richter wrote –

The words that a father speaks to his children in the privacy of his home are not heard by the world, but, they are clearly heard at the end and by posterity.

May the peace and grace of the Lord be with you Dad. May all your dreams now come true, and your legacy is in good hands with your children’s children. Love You. Find peace and serenity.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  No services are planned.  Services are in the care of Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at ww.watsonthomas.com.
