The University of Illinois Extension will continue with its “Grower Spotlight” webinar series on Monday, April 6th, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. This webinar series serves as a platform for our local producers and allow other growers, agribusiness professionals, university and private industry to come together to discuss agriculture. Not only will our featured guests be able to discuss their operations in detail, but these programs also allow participants to ask questions throughout and gain valuable insight from those with experience.

This edition of University of Illinois Extension’s “Grower Spotlight” will be moderated by Phillip Alberti (University of Illinois Extension) and will feature American Hemp Research (Andy Huston) located in Roseville, IL. Andy Huston is a 6th generation farmer in the west central Illinois community of Roseville.  He and his brother Frank farm 2300 acres consisting of corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, clover and industrial hemp.  Andy is also completing the on farm processing of hemp into CBD crude oil for further distillation into the American Hemp Research CBD product line.

The goal of this webinar is to provide to the 2020 hemp producer class a review of the biggest lessons learned from the 2019 season. Knowing the ins and outs of this industry before getting involved will be critical to success in this new market. A large portion of the program will focus on the lessons learned with regards to planting methods, fertility, harvest, and storage.

Throughout the educational program, participants will be allowed to contribute to a live Q and A with our guests. The webinar invitation will be sent via email following registration for the program. Those interested in attending the workshop may register online at go.illinois.edu/jsw.

There is no cost for this program, but registrations are limited, so register now to secure a spot in the program and the chance to ask questions. The webinar will be posted online at go.illinois.edu/hemp shortly following the program.

If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, please contact the Extension office, early requests are strongly encouraged to allow enough time for meeting your access needs.
