Joseph J. “Jose” Horaney, 62, of Galesburg, died Friday, April 10, 2020 at home.

Joe was born April 24, 1957 in Galesburg, the son of Robert and Rosemary (Tederman) Horaney.  He married Rochelle Efka-German on July 3, 1976 in Galesburg.  She survives as do two sons, Darryl Horaney and Devin (Dollie) Horaney, both of Galesburg; and one granddaughter, Bethanie Ricketts.  He is also survived by one brother, John (Dawn) Horaney of Galesburg; his twin sister, Patty Horaney of Galesburg and Mary Jo (Richard) Porter Champaign; and a cousin who was raised by his parents, Jim Jackson of New Jersey.

Joe worked as a crane operator at Butler Mfg. for over 29 years, retiring in 2005.  He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was an altar boy when he was a youth.  Joe enjoyed fishing, watching racing and football.  He was on a bowling league for many years.

Joe was a player of pranks and loved razzing store clerks and strangers.  His favorite treats were beer, Vienna sausages, and Danish butter cookies at Christmas from his granddaughter.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
