Ralph David Thielbert, 80, of Galesburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Sunday, March 29, 2020.

Dave was born April 22, 1939 in Galesburg, the son of Ralph Clyde and Lucille Helen (Fillich) Thielbert.  Dave graduated from Galesburg High School in 1959 and later attended college in California.  He and his father operated the “Scoreboard” billiard hall in Galesburg for many years.  Dave was self-employed as a pool installer for several years.

He married Teresa “Terri” Fahnestock in Galesburg.  She survives.  He is also survived by two sons, John D. (Tarrah) Thielbert of Abingdon and Matthew D. (Meggie) Thielbert of Galesburg; and seven grandchildren, Luna, Maxen, Bentley, Cali, Jordan, Marley, and Matthew, Jr.  He is also survived by two sisters, Becky Crumm and Diana (Paul) Long.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Daniel; and his brother in law, Gordon Fahnestock. 

Cremation rites will be accorded.  Due to social distancing recommendations surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic visitation and celebration will be held at a later date.  Private burial of his cremated remains will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made in Dave’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
