With Illinois school districts having in classroom teaching and all extracurricular activities suspended back in March and now extended through the end of this school year, many local high school winter sports programs were unable to host their annual end of the year awards banquets. The United Red Storm Boys basketball program had several individuals receive awards for the season: Abel Wilson, Aiden Jenks, Jacob Dutton, Cormaic Flynn, Nolan Leffler, Jackson Bergren, Drew Brown, Declan Flynn, Evan Wynn, Avery Leffler, and Diego Godina were named All-Academic LTC team; three were named to the LTC All-Conference team, Declan Flynn first team, Evan Wynn second team, and Cormaic Flynn Honorable Mention. Head Coach Doug Dennison shares the voted team awards to the players:

“Our big award is the Anton Award that the players vote on and that is basically best teammate voted on by our players. Jackson Bergren will be awarded the Anton Award. A free throw award that I call Knock’em Down for best free throw percentage goes to Evan Wynn. We have what I call A Master Lock or defensive award and that is going to Drew Brown. We have what I call a Dr. Dines, our assist award, and that goes to Declan Flynn. We have Chairman of the Boards, a rebounding award, and that goes to Declan Flynn. We do a Man in Charge or our charge award and that goes to Jacob Dutton. We do an Elmer’s Glue, just kind of the glue guy for our team, and that award goes to Cormaic Flynn. Then I do an Attitude HP, Attitude, Pride, and Hustle award. That is voted on by Coach Hannam and myself and that award goes to senior Avery Leffler,” Dennison says.

The Red Storm Varsity Boys Basketball program ended their season with a school record setting 20 wins and 12 loses, 5 and 4 in the Lincoln Trail Conference placing them 5th overall.
