Sheriff Edwards Discusses Early Parole of Inmates

Share

The State of Illinois is beginning the process to release certain inmates on early parole. Warren County Sheriff Martin Edwards has more:

“The Governor made an announcement that they were going to be vetting certain inmates for an early release ahead of their normal parole schedule in an effort to try and limit or reduce the population in the state prison system. A couple of days before that, they actually put a stop to inbounds from the county jails. So, effectively what has happened is people that were sentenced to prison, are still staying in the county jail and the state prison has made efforts to reduce their population,” Edwards states.

The Warren County jail is currently housing six inmates, two of which were to be sentenced to state prison.
