BCA Finds Creative Ways to Brings Arts to Community During Pandemic

The Buchanan Center for the Arts has been very creative throughout this pandemic in order to still bring art to the community. To continue with the exhibition schedule, Executive Director Kristyne Gilbert shares a virtual gallery tour is in the works:

“With the upcoming schedule, Hot Ice, it features the work of Michael Gotzell, 30 years of photography in retrospective on glaciers in the middle of the blistering summer and also some selective pieces from Harlow Bloom. We weren’t sure folks would be able to come into the gallery or maybe not feel comfortable enough to come into the gallery and we will have limited numbers, so we are going to create a virtual gallery tour. Folks can look for that on our website as well as our Facebook page,” Gilbert says.

The BCA will also utilize the outdoors and bring live music and a scavenger hunt to the community.

The Artist in Residence Program deadline at the Buchanan Center for the Arts has been extended until Tuesday, July 7th, says Gilbert:

“If you know of someone who would be a really great fit for our community, come work with us, teach classes, create public art, be an ambassador and serve the community, and connect folks to the arts, those applications are due Tuesday, July 7th. The program will actually take place September 1st to November 21st. It will be a really nice partnership as well with our 64 Arts, which will be taking place at the same time,” Gilbert shares.

The deadline to sign up and be a part of the 64 Arts with the BCA is Monday, June 1st.
