Call 4 Calm Text Line Provides Free Emotional Support with a Mental Health Professional

Share

May is Mental Health Awareness month. Stacy Brown, Vice President of Behavior Health Services at Bridgeway, reports since this pandemic began, the biggest concern being faced is uncertainty. Back in March when the stay at home order first began, the State of Illinois developed a Call for Calm text line. Brown has more:

“It is a text line that anyone can text into. They just text TALK to 552020. All they really have to put is their first name and their zip code. Then that gets sent out to the provider in their area. What we do as the provider is we contact them via phone to touch base with them, to see what their needs are, and most of the things we are finding are people that just want to kind of talk about what they are experiencing right now. Just that stress and anxiety and again that uncertainty, that is the number one issue. Then just how to best handle everything that is going on,” says Brown.

The texts are pushed out by zip code to providers throughout the state for an additional resource for anyone that may need a connection with someone.
