Chuck Grant Names M-R Boys’ Basketball Awards Winners

Like several other local high schools in the area, the Monmouth-Roseville Boys’ Basketball team was unable to hold their annual winter sports awards banquet due to COVID-19. Rashaun King was named to the All-Conference team and the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game that was to be played in June, but has since been cancelled. Connor Olson, Ben Anderson, and Quincy Talivaa were named All-Conference Honorable Mentions. Head Coach Chuck Grant has the team awards presented to this year’s players:

“We hand out awards for statistics. One of them is most assists and Rashaun King was our leader in that this year. We give out an award for our leading rebounder and that was Ben Anderson this year. We give out a top free throw percentage shooter and that was Connor Olson. Then we have some awards that are voted on by the players. We have, first of all, our Super Rat award, which goes to the guy that is out busting their tail every day and taking charges, diving, and just hustling in general in practice. We have co-winners of that this year. One of them was Jack Thompson and Carlos Serrano was the other co-winner. Then we give a Most Improved Player and again that was a tie. One was awarded to Ben Anderson and the co-winner was Jimmy Connell. Then our Most Valuable Player was Rashaun King,” Grant says.

The Titans ended their season with a record of 15 and 14.
