The Knox County Humane Society remains open and staff is available for anyone interested in adopting a pet. Executive Director Erin Buckmaster states all necessary guidelines are being taken throughout the adoption process:

“Most of the dogs you can see on our indoor/outdoor pet runs because they surround our building. We have 33 of them and thank goodness they are not all full right now, but that is what we have circling our building. Plus in the catio, you can see the cats out there and if there is a specific one and it is not out there, we will bring it out and show it to you. If you are truly interested, we will have you fill out an application, at a six foot distance. A lot of the fees are really reduced or waived. The most important thing to us right now is a good home,” Buckmaster says.

Adoption hours are 10am to 4 pm Monday through Saturday.
