Local Small Businesses Express Frustration

Share

As surrounding big box stores are open and neighboring states are opening back up, City of Monmouth Mayor Rod Davies shares frustration has been expressed by the small businesses as they remain closed during the Illinois Stay at Home order:

“I think there is just a large level of frustration with having things closed down when we can see some of the larger big box stores in neighboring communities that have a lot of people passing through them and a fraction of that number of people would be going through our local businesses and it is critical to them. I can understand everyone’s frustration and we are too, but again we are facing a lot of restrictions with this ourselves as the city,” Mayor Davies states.

Mayor Davies reports the city has experienced the loss of any liability insurance and coverage and a potential loss of funding.
