Michael A. Logsdon, Sr.

Michael A. Logsdon, Sr., 70, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 7:45 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2020 at his home. 

He was born on August 19, 1949 in Monmouth, IL, the son of William Dell and Lillian Mae (Schultz) Logsdon.  Michael was raised and educated in Monmouth and attended Monmouth High School. 

Michael served in the United States Army for four years during the Vietnam War. 

He married Mary A. Ward on August 10, 1977 in Lewistown, MO. 

Michael worked at the Monmouth Pottery for several years.  He then worked at Admirals in Galesburg, IL.  Michael also worked for his dad at Logsdon Sanitation for time.  He volunteered at the Oklahoma City VA Hospital for 15 years.  Michael enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, playing bingo and pitch.  He was very proud of his service to his country.  Most of all, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren. 

Surviving Michael are his children, Angel Logsdon of Monmouth, IL, Mikie (Heidi) Logsdon of Monmouth, IL, Echo Logsdon of Monmouth, IL, Matt Burton of Monmouth, IL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Dell (Tina) Logsdon of Oklahoma, Roger (Pam) Logsdon of Iowa; one sister, Opal (Kyle) Bresnahan of Monmouth, IL.      

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Glenn Howard Logsdon. 

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Michael A. Logsdon, Sr. Memorial Fund, C/O McGuire & Davies Funeral Home, PO Box 444, Monmouth, IL 61462.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, is in charge of the arrangements.
