Mrs. Peggy Jo McCoy, 62, of Galesburg, passed away at 2:30 am May 23, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born in 1957, in Monmouth, Illinois, to Lloyd and JoAnn (Parsons) Chenoweth.
She attended Monmouth High School, class of 1975. She continued her education at Robert Morris College at the Carthage campus graduating in 1977 with a degree in accounting.
She met her husband, Robert McCoy, while they worked at Outboard Marine Corporation. They celebrated 42 years of marriage this month. Peggy most recently worked at Bridgeway as the controller for 20 years.
Peggy lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; laughing with friends and family; tending to her flower and potted gardens; photography including her gardens’ butterflies and hummingbirds and all wildlife; caring for her pets; and renowned for her cooking skills.
Peggy’s husband, children and grandchildren were her heart and joy. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
Peggy is survived by her husband; her three children, Matthew (Danielle) McCoy of Ankeny, Iowa, Samantha (Raymond) Childress of Valrico, Florida, and Lindsay (Mitchell) Jacobs of Galesburg; her six grandchildren; her sisters, Rhonda (Mike) Wolfe of Delmar, Iowa, Sheila (Dan) Alexander of St. Clair, Missouri, and Terry Chenoweth of Maquoketa, Iowa. She is preceded I death by her parents and her brother, Tommy.

An open visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 am Friday, May 29, 2020, at the Church of the Open Bible, with a memorial service to follow at the church. Pastor Mark Dexter will officiate. Due to social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the public will be monitored with strict restrictions and limited seating will be available. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
