How did agriculture fare in the recently approved state budget? Illinois Farm Bureau’s Mark Gebhards has some of the highlights:
“For agriculture, we are very pleased that $5 million has been awarded as part of the money that was sent to the state from the federal government to have for livestock relief. In the event of depopulation of the herd and various things. There is additional money now that producers will be able to access. We still have to work out details of that and we will do that with the livestock organization,” Gebhards reports.
State lawmakers passed the $40-billion state budget in May, which relies on borrowing up to $5-billion from the federal reserve.
